Please note the following dress code provided by the Lyford Cay Club when packing! The attire for the wedding ceremony and reception is black tie.
GENERAL
Blue jeans, denim jackets and clothing, cargo pants, emblazoned shirts and jackets, and soiled, ragged or torn clothing are not acceptable attire.
Gentlemen are asked to remove hats indoors. In outdoor dining and bar areas, gentlemen’s Panama-style hats are
acceptable attire. Billed, baseball-style hats, or peaked caps, are not acceptable dining and bar attire except at the Beach Shack. Billed hats, or peaked caps, worn backwards are not acceptable Club attire. Gentlemen are required to tuck in shirttails in all dining and bar areas. Cabana-style and Guayabera shirts designed and hemmed to be worn outside trousers are acceptable attire in outdoor dining and bar areas. Tank tops are not acceptable attire for gentlemen.
Members and Guests are asked to wear discrete bathing attire. Distastefully brief clothing, topless sunbathing and thong bathing suits on ladies, and bikini shorts on gentlemen, are not acceptable.
Shoes are required in all Club buildings and dining venues except around the pool and on the beach.
DAYTIME
At breakfast and in general areas of the Club, informal, casual and sport attire in keeping with the Dress Code is
acceptable.
SPECIFIC DAYTIME DRESS REQUIREMENTS ARE:
Main Dining Room Brunch
-Gentlemen and boys 10 years of age and older: Jackets required, ties optional.
-Ladies: Dresses, suits, skirts or dress slacks and blouses.
Pool Terrace
-Gentlemen and boys 10 years of age and older: Collared shirts.
-Ladies: Beach cover-ups over bathing attire.
-Shoes are required.
-Members and Guests wearing only swimsuits will be served at the chaise lounges around the pool and in cabanas.
Beach Shack
-Discrete bathing attire, beach cover-ups, T-shirts and shorts.
-Gentlemen and boys 10 years of age and older are required to wear shirts.
-Shoes are required. Caps and sun visors worn backwards are not allowed.
EVENING
-After 7:00pm, evening attire is generally required. In the Main Clubhouse and Little Club, including the Little Club
porch, gentlemen and boys 10 years of age and older are required to wear jackets and collared dress shirts; ties are optional; polo shirts and shirts without collars are not acceptable. Ladies and girls 10 years of age and older are asked to wear dresses or suits, or dress slacks and blouses.
CERTAIN EXCEPTIONS TO EVENING ATTIRE ARE:
Yacht Club
-Gentlemen and boys 10 years of age and older: Open-collared sport shirts and casual slacks are acceptable; jacket required.
-Shirts without collars and shorts are not acceptable.
Pool Terrace
-Gentlemen: Collared shirts and slacks. Jackets are not required.
-Ladies: Dresses, slacks or skirts with blouses. Shorts and denim not acceptable. Shoes are required.
Beach Shack
-Informal and casual attire for ladies and gentlemen.
-Shorts and denim are not acceptable.
Sand Bar
-Informal and casual attire for ladies and gentlemen.
-Plain shorts just above or just below the knee are acceptable.
GOLF
Traditional golf attire is required for all players. Members are asked to inform their Guests of the Dress Code prior to their arrival at the golf course. If in doubt about acceptable attire, please check with the professional golf staff. Persons in violation of the Dress
Code will be asked to change attire or leave the respective premises.
ACCEPTABLE GOLF ATTIRE
-Gentlemen: Traditional golf shirts, tucked in, with collars and sleeves, Bermuda-length shorts or golf slacks.
-Ladies: Traditional golf shirts, with or without collars or sleeves; golf blouses; slacks, skirts or shorts, in each case falling to mid-thigh or longer.
-Shoes: Specifically designed golf shoes with nonmetallic spikes or flat soft-soled shoes are required for play on all golf course facilities, including the putting green and driving range.
NOT ACCEPTABLE
Non-traditional golf attire including tank tops, halter tops, T-shirts, rugby or fishnet shirts; short shorts, cargo pants, cut-offs, jeans and denim clothing; tennis attire, athletic or spandex sport attire, jams, bathing suits; caps and sun visors worn backwards.
TENNIS
Traditional all-white tennis attire is required for all players. Members are asked to inform their Guests of the Dress Code prior to their arrival at the tennis courts.
If in doubt about acceptable attire, please check with the professional tennis staff. Persons in violation of the Dress Code will be asked to change attire or leave the respective premises.
ACCEPTABLE TENNIS ATTIRE
-Gentlemen and ladies: Predominantly white attire; includes sweaters, jackets, warm-ups and cold weather clothing; and accessories such as hats, visors, headbands, bandannas, sweatbands, socks, tennis undergarments, etc.; minimal coloured trim.
-Shoes: Specifically designed tennis court, white shoes; minimal coloured trim.
NOT ACCEPTABLE
Coloured tennis attire or white attire with excessive trim, panels or bands of colour; T-shirts emblazoned with bright colours, slogans, advertisements or large logos; cross trainers, running shoes and shoes with improper soles.
CROQUET
All-white clothing and smooth-soled footwear are required for Club competitions. Pastel colours are acceptable along with clothing as set out under “Acceptable Golf Attire” for casual play. Dark harsh colours are not acceptable.
